Can I mine Cryptocurrency with my Computer or Laptop?

Most modern computers include a graphics processing unit. The GPU works with the CPU (central processing unit) to process and display images, video, and video games as quickly as possible. GPUs can process information up to 800 times faster than the CPU, making them ideal for cryptomining.

Though the process is much more complicated, mining breaks information into blocks which the GPUs verify for accuracy. These blocks of information form the blockchain. Chains can be used to store everything from food distribution paths, legal contracts, business transactions, and more. Any information can be stored on the transparent ledgers within the blocks. Once the block of information is committed, the information is then replicated across the network, making it permanently stored for anyone to see.

Blocks are like links in a chain, each one links to the one before it and the one after it. Breaking the chain is not possible as the records are shared around the world with millions of miners.

Using your existing equipment to try crypto mining is easy. First let’s find the GPU in the computer.

Open the Device Manager on your Windows computer.
